From manuscript to bundle

Six steps take a finished manuscript to a package you can upload to KDP.
  1. 1

    Upload the manuscript

A Word file, or a zip with the Word file and its images. Headings, verse line breaks, page breaks, and the contents page keep their place.

  2. 2

    Complete the metadata

Title, contributors, ISBN, categories, front and back matter, checked against KDP’s rules as you type.

  3. 3

    Place the images

Choose each image’s size and position: full width, half, inline, floated, or as a plate.

  4. 4

    Choose a design

Pick a theme, a trim size, and the paper stock; the interior is typeset to match, with optional drop caps.

  5. 5

    Add the cover

LogicLoom works out the spine width and full cover size from your page count and paper, then checks the cover you upload.

  6. 6

    Proof, then download

Review proof-stamped previews as often as you like, then download the clean interior and the KDP bundle.

What’s in the bundle

One download holds the files KDP needs for a print book and its eBook edition, built from the same source so they always match.

  • Interior PDF, typeset with LaTeX
  • EPUB 3 edition of the same book
  • ONIX 3.0 metadata record
  • Scannable EAN-13 barcode, when an ISBN is supplied
  • Spine width and full cover dimensions for your designer
  • Your cover files, checked against KDP’s requirements
  • All in a single zip for upload

Designed, not just formatted

Five themes set the typography of the whole book, using typefaces licensed for commercial use.

Elegant serif

A warm Caslon text face with small-caps headings, wide margins, and generous leading.

Modern serif

Source Serif text with Lato headings, on a slightly denser page.

Minimalist

One family, Crimson Pro, with the widest margins and plenty of white space.

Non-fiction standard

Source Serif with Source Sans headings and running heads, for guides and reference.

Academic

Old Standard TT throughout, with a denser text block and a generous inner margin.

Checked against KDP’s rules

KDP rejects books for small things. LogicLoom checks more than 30 of its rules automatically, measuring the built files, and flags the rest for a person to review.

If a check can't be verified, it is reported as unverified, never as a pass.

  • Title, contributor, ISBN, and category metadata
  • Trim size and bleed
  • Gutter and outside margins
  • Fonts embedded
  • Body text size
  • Image resolution
  • PDF version and no encryption
  • Copyright page present
  • EPUB structure, headings, and alt text
  • eBook cover size and resolution

Endnotes and index, rebuilt

When a book is re-typeset, every page number moves. LogicLoom rebuilds endnotes, the index, and the list of illustrations against the new pages, so references point to this edition.

Our three platforms

Each covers a different part of publishing: new print books, accessible eBooks, and files already on sale.
